As the use of social media expands to all types of organizations, it is increasingly important to develop a social media strategy, keep it current, and execute it effectively. Social media is not merely another way to push information at people, but an opportunity to increase engagement, participation, loyalty, and reach. The social media technologies covered include Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, blogs, ratings and reviews, eCards, and badges. The course will use case studies from a variety of organizations to demonstrate how successful social media use is dependent on goals, resources, policies, and metrics.
Lisa Gualtieri is an adjunct clinical professor at Tufts University School of Medicine, where she teaches courses on Online Consumer Health, Social Media and Health, and Web Strategies for Health Communication.
